JSC AIR PASSENGER TERMINAL DOMODEDOVO was established to implement passenger service development and improvement programs and to modernize the passenger terminal of Domodedovo Moscow International Airport. The main activities of JSC AIR PASSENGER TERMINAL DOMODEDOVO include:
To achieve all these objectives, the company employs advanced technologies, most of which have been pioneered in Russia and notably in Moscow aviation hub. In 2004 a large-scope program was launched to expand areas and increase passenger terminal capacity. As a result, the area of the passenger terminal has grown to 123,000 sq. m and the number of check-in counters increased from 64 to 132. By the end of 2008, the terminal will further expand to cover some 220,000 sq. m. Domodedovo's passenger terminal is the first in Russia to offer airlines transfer air carriage services based on recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Efficient transfer connections are now possible as international and domestic flights are handled within a single terminal in Domodedovo. Domodedovo Moscow International Airport is also among the first in Moscow air hub to use telescopic bridges for handling international and domestic flights. To date, the airport has 24 telescopic bridges, including bridges with twin telescopic units designed for servicing large aircraft such as В-747, B-767, B-777, A-340, A-330 etc. The sophisticated Building Management System (BMS) controls over 30,000 points inside Domodedovo Passenger Terminal in automatic mode (after reconstruction of the passenger terminal the system will be controlling 60,000 points). The main functions of BMS are monitoring and managing utility and process systems of the passenger terminal (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, illumination of the terminal, the apron, parking, airport landside, baggage handling system, elevators, moving stairways), as well as tracking movements of passengers within the terminal. Moreover, BMS provides benefits of energy saving facility. Within the passenger information system development program, Domodedovo is actively using the Automated Announcement System (AAS). Being a unique joint development of Russian and international companies, it uses special software to generate human voice vocalized announcements related to ticket and baggage check-in and flight status changes. The uniqueness of this system lies in multi-tread broadcasting (simultaneous broadcasting of up to 16 announcements in various terminal areas) and enhanced reliability. The system allows for broadcasting in an unlimited number of languages. Currently, announcements are made in Russian, English, Azeri, Armenian, Hebrew, Spanish, Kyrgyz, Chinese, German, Norwegian, Thai, Uzbek, Ukrainian, French, Hindi, Japanese and other national languages of the countries of departing and arriving flights.
The superior quality of passenger terminal services is confirmed by its international certificates. The terminal was assigned Class "C" under the IATA classification. Domodedovo Passenger Terminal is the first in Russia to receive the international certificate for Enterprise Quality Management System ISO 9001:2000 (International Organization for Standardization), evidencing the high-quality management of the company, the professionalism of its employees and the availability of a clearly established performance/product control. Attention to passenger comfort is clear in the terminal's recreation and business facilities. The passenger terminal has a 24-hour Internet center and a wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi). The waiting area has a DVD cinema equipped with one, two and four-seat booths with wide-screen TV sets, DVD players, headphones and comfortable chairs where visitors can chose from over 500 movies of various genres. Domodedovo Moscow International Airport is Moscow air hub leader in servicing the tourist segment of the aviation market. To improve the passenger service quality in charter and regular flights and create favorable conditions for travel agencies, a special area with 25 counters has been made available for them. To meet religious needs of passengers, the Orthodox Michael the Archangel's Chapel - the only chapel in Russia located in an airport - and the Safar Mosque ("safar" meaning "travel" in Arabic) have been opened. There are dozens of caf?s and restaurants catering a wide range of dishes and offering original concept-based interiors. The concessions operating in the airport are industry leaders who have been selected upon strict tenders for the right to work in the Moscow Domodedovo International Airport passenger terminal. The airport implements such policy to ensure high quality of customer service. The passenger terminal also accommodates ATMs, currency exchange offices, banks, depositories, a post office, a pharmacy, local- and long- distance and domestic and international pay phones, and ticket offices for air and railway. Passengers departing to the countries with milder climate are offered the winter wear storage service. Business class passengers may enjoy the services of the airport's business lounges located in the domestic and international flights galleries. The business lounges are equipped with all that is required to ensure a comfortable stay while waiting for the flight - computers with Internet access, office equipment, television facilities for watching TV programs, including satellite TV channels. Customers are offered a wide range of regular printed media as well as a diversified menu featuring liquors and soft drinks, proprietary snacks and desserts. Additionally, airlines such as British Airways, Swiss International Air Lines, Austrian Airlines, Transaero, S7 Airlines, AirUnion, and UTG Travel Club (for passengers of airlines UTAir, Kogalymavia, Volga-Aviaexpress and Belavia) offer services provided by their own business lounges.
The international sector has a Duty Free commercial area. It accommodates shops with a wide range of liquors and soft drinks, souvenirs, elite cigars and confectionaries. Passengers can buy clothing, footwear, accessories, and jewelry of the best European and world brands in specialized boutiques. The airport has a 24-hour Mom and Baby Room for children up to 8 years old (14 - for handicapped children) equipped with everything to ensure comfortable stay of little passengers. The Mom and Baby Room has a Children's Center, where children are not only overseen by experienced child-minders, but also can participate in competitions, quizzes, and lawn games organized by animators. The services of the Mom and Baby Room are free of charge for airport passengers. Additionally, Moscow Domodedovo International Airport offers a special service to children's groups departing from and arriving at the airport by domestic and international flight.
Domodedovo's passenger terminal enjoys the most developed transport infrastructure in Moscow air hub. The airport is connected with the capital by high-speed motorway allowing passengers to get to the airport by both private and public transport (shuttle vans, shuttle coaches). The airport has a network of paid parking areas accommodating over 6,000 cars. Domodedovo's parking tariffs are at the level of the average market tariffs and are based on remoteness of a parking place from the passenger terminal building. The airport is connected with Moscow by railway. A comfortable high-speed train, Aeroexpress, delivers passengers from the airport to Paveletskaya station. The guaranteed journey time between the airport and the center of Moscow is 40 minutes. The terminal at Paveletsky Railway Station has 8 check-in counters and 23 airline ticket counters. Thus, passengers may check in for a flight, deposit their baggage and buy tickets to all destinations. For the convenience of passengers going from Domodedovo Moscow International Airport to various localities of Moscow or other regions of Russia, Aeroexpress operates services to Moscow's key traffic hubs - Kurskaya, Kalanchevskaya and Belorusskaya stations. Moreover, JSC AIR PASSENGER TERMINAL DOMODEDOVO and its partner airlines implement intermodal programs allowing passengers to dramatically reduce travel time from the center of Moscow to their destinations. These programs offer:
For the sake of passengers' convenience and safety, taxi services are provided exclusively by official carriers of Domodedovo Moscow International Airport. Fixed rate cabs can be booked at special booths in the arrival areas of domestic and international airlines. Within the service quality improvement program, Domodedovo Moscow International Airport introduced a new technology - digital feedback self-service stands where airport customers may leave questions and comments, and obtain information on the services available at the terminal. The stands are placed in the common access area of the airport terminal and in the boarding area of international flights. Airport visitors are welcome to ask any questions about flights and airport stay directly in the Information Center located in the passenger terminal building or by contacting the 24 Hour Call Center at: +7 (495) 933 6666.
