JSC DOMODEDOVO AERODROME COMPLEX JSC DOMODEDOVO AERODROME COMPLEX operates the aerodrome and relevant facilities of Domodedovo Moscow International Airport and implements measures to ensure its long-term development. Having acquired an international status in 1992, the aerodrome handles all types of domestic and foreign made aircrafts.

The three main dimensions of the company's activities include:

  1. Assuring aircraft take-off and landing on the aerodrome.
  2. Air navigation service within the aerodrome area (in cooperation with the Moscow Center for Computer-Aided Air Traffic Control).
  3. Rendering utility and telecommunication services within the airport complex.

The aerodrome area covers 1,171 hectares, of which 211 hectares are paved. The apron can receive 117 aircrafts of various types and makes ranging from business aircraft such as Falcone 90 to super-heavy cargo aircrafts of Ruslan type to Airbus A-380 and Boeing 747-400 passenger aircraft.

Domodedovo Moscow International Airport is the only in Moscow air hub that has two parallel runways. The runways are built at a distance allowing for their independent operation even in severe weather conditions. The existing capacities may handle up to 70 (90 at peak traffic) take-off/landing operations per hour.

JSC DOMODEDOVO AERODROME COMPLEX Domodedovo Airport's Runway 2 has been certified to ICAO CAT III А (International Civil Aviation Organization). It is the highest certification class that permits take-off and landing operations in extreme weather conditions, which is primarily enabled by advanced runway lighting and radio equipment. Thus, configuration and equipment of the runway significantly reduce delays caused by bad weather and improve flight regularity.

Reconstruction of the First Airside was launched in 2003 following the Federal target program "Modernization of the Transportation System in the Russian Federation (2002-2010)". The project was implemented in two stages. During the first stage, Major Taxiway 2 was reconstructed and reworked (re-equipped) into a temporary runway. Thus, the taxiway functionally replaced Runway 1 for the period of its reconstruction. This functional replacement permitted continued use of the airport at required traffic capacity during reconstruction. Throughout the second stage, Runway 1 was upgraded and reconstruction of the entire airside was completed. Commissioning of Runway 1 at the end of 2007 became a key event in the airport's life. The applied technologies and blacktop of this runway are unparalleled in Russia. Its unique system of high-speed taxiways allows aircraft to exit the runway immediately after landing at 93 km/h in wet surface conditions. To date, Runway 1 has been put into service and certified to ICAO CAT I with scheduled gradual upgrade to CAT III.

Renovation and improvement of the airdrome complex engineering system have been designed to enable Domodedovo Moscow International Airport to achieve its strategic objective - to develop into an inter-continental Euro-Asian air hub.
