Currently Domodedovo is the only airport in Russia using baggage handling system, ensuring screening of 100% of baggage at the conveyor with inbuilt high-speed introscopes.

In 2006 we plan to put in operation the first in Russia automated baggage handling system with automated baggage dispensing and multi-level automated hold baggage screening system. The system capacity is 7 thousand of baggage pieces per hour.

НВS includes 5 control levels. It automatically detects suspicious baggage and sends it to the next screening level or for screening by operators.

The most sophisticated equipment is used at different screening levels:

• Screening of passengers, cargo, baggage and mail, including diplomatic mail;
• Reconciliation of data on baggage after check-in and special control;
• Baggage security in cargo integration zone, in the course of transportation and in the loading area;
• Aircraft security.

This multi-level system ensures 100% detection of arms and explosives in the passengers’ luggage.
